The Teeter Totter of Intentionality

When I wrote my last blog post about God's intentionality towards us, I found myself quite in awe of its magnitude. How could I not, when I ponder His vastness, grandness, and faithfulness?

He is so

thoughtful

detailed

deliberate,

relevant

and100% on point.

His heart is poised to bring encouragement to our weary hearts with every expression of His love.

Shortly after posting my thoughts on His intentions towards us, a feeling of comfort and coziness wrapped around me with its warm revelation.

I was also thrilled to step into a fresh New Year with new heavenly downloads to ponder and embrace. My husband, Kevin, and I were also excited to gather together with our life group after the holidays, planning to hear our friends' thoughts for 2025 along with their hopes and prayers for 2026. So many encouraging thoughts and things to pray about. When Kathleen shared a word that the Lord had put on her heart for 2026, Kevin and I were pleasantly surprised to hear it was the word "intentional."

There it was again, yet not with the thought of God's intentionality towards us, but our intentionality towards Him. What a treasure!

Like a coin flipped to expose the opposite side of this priceless currency of heaven, wholly worth its weight in gold.

A word so rich in meaning and worthwhile to practice. For it reminds me to

align my plans with God's will

to seek His guidance,

and

surrender my desires to His divine plan for my life.

The coin picture came into view to help me tie the two thoughts together. And after that came an image of a teeter-totter, for days before Kevin likened a situation to this playground favorite. Perhaps not the perfect analogy for my story; however, it still made me think of seeing it as two sides of intentionality: God on one side and us on the other, face to face as we teetered and tottered, balanced by His love and commitment, seeing His intentionality towards us and being intentional towards Him. And whether we are up or down, we can have the comfort of still seeing His face faithful to His promise to never leave us or forsake us.

With wide-eyed wonderment, we get the joy of being intentional with God, returning in a small way His grand gesture towards us.

Giving our hearts permission to search for His signposts, breadcrumb trails of love, God winks, or hugs. Whatever we wish to call them, they are always there, purposeful to align ourselves to His loving will. Rejoicing in His affections for us is such a heartwarming thought.

I love how God highlights a word, that we get the joy of hearing it again and again, giving us a chance for it to resonate more in our spirits, minds, and emotions. Multifaceted jewels of hope from our multifaceted God.

Shimmering,

sacred

splendid.

It was no surprise the next morning after our Life Group, our Pastor chose to talk about intentionality in the new year, of course He did, so unbelievably God. More fractions of glorious light to gaze upon, taking copious notes, soaking in what the Lord was trying to share, eager to hear His heart of this ever-expanding word for 2026.

Later that afternoon, I had the pleasure to read my friend Wendy Dunn's book, "Awakening to God's Presence." Lo and behold, at the very top of page 122, she writes, "How can we bring intentionality into our lives? Will it make a difference?" Blown away with God's sweet presence, I looked out the window to see a double rainbow, vibrant glorious promises written in the sky for all to see. I quickly headed outside to share with Kevin God's love letter written in the sky. We stood together, pausing in awe and intentionality of God's present wrapped in a big double rainBOW. Excitement mixed with gratitude as we witnessed God's intentionality for our behalf. Marveling at the sky, Wendy's question came to mind. "Will intentionality make a difference?" My answer, dear friends, is a resounding yes!
